 Posted 8 January, 2020 (updated 22 January, 2020 ) CEA has hired Joan Gass as our first Managing Director. 
 In this role, Joan will support Max Dalton, our Executive Director. The two of them will divide the responsibilities of the executive team. 
 Joan’s role will include: 
 
 Overseeing CEA’s Community Health team and contributing to groups team strategy 

 Providing input on CEA’s org-wide and program-specific strategy 

 Building capacity for the collection of additional data and feedback related to CEA’s work 

 Providing support for hiring and other internal operations (e.g. performance management systems, tracking staff satisfaction) 

 
 We are excited about Joan’s vision in these areas, and we are thrilled that she has chosen to join us! 
 Joan recently graduated with an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business and an MPA in International Development from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. She previously worked at the strategy consulting firm Bain & Company, where she was a founding member of their Nigeria office. On top of her work at Bain and her graduate coursework, Joan co-founded and directed a nonprofit in Uganda , co-founded the One for the World group at Stanford’s business school, and launched a fellowship related to catastrophic risks and emerging technology policy at the Harvard Kennedy School. Joan has an undergraduate degree from Yale University, where she was a dual major in International Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
