Summary

A February 2026 EA Forum thread experimenting with a new format for EA organization updates, allowing organizations to post directly to the forum rather than through editorial curation. Features updates from Happier Lives Institute (new fund launch, charity impact research), Ambitious Impact (new leadership, Charity Entrepreneurship Program applications), and Anima International (campaign wins, job openings).

Key Points

  • Format change: EA organizations now post updates directly to the forum thread rather than submitting to editors, enabling community interaction
  • Happier Lives Institute launched the Happier Lives Fund ($116k raised), published research on why some charities are 1,000x more impactful than others
  • Ambitious Impact announced new executive leadership and opened applications for the September 2026 & February 2027 Charity Entrepreneurship Program cohorts
  • Anima International shared campaign wins on fast-growing chicken breeds in Norway and posted job openings in Denmark
  • The open format trades curation/endorsement for accessibility, with moderation trade-offs to be monitored

Building effective altruism Career choice Opportunities to take action Announcements and updates Application announcements EA Organization Updates (monthly series) Effective Altruism Forum Fellowships and internships Hiring Job listing (open) Organization updates Frontpage For the last couple of years, EA Organization Updates has been a monthly series hosted on the forum. It doesn't normally get very much attention. Previous to that it was part of the EA Newsletter until the newsletter got far too long to host it.

Now we're trying something new. Instead of asking organisations to write in to us, editing and posting their updates, we're asking them to write directly here on the forum, where you can interact with them. If this goes well, we'll continue the series as a monthly thread which stays up for a week.

Note that this thread will be less gate-kept, curated and endorsed than the previous series. This is a positive (content isn't restricted to the organisations we have asked to write something) and negative (if the thread proves popular, we might have to spend moderation capacity removing irrelevant updates). We'll keep an eye on this trade-off.

You can see previous updates on the “ EA Organization Updates (monthly series)  topic page. Notice that there's also an  “organization updates” tag , where you can find more news and updates that are not part of this consolidated series.

We were invited to advise the UK Treasury on updating their Green Book guidelines on using wellbeing for policy appraisal at the end of last year.
We launched the  Happier Lives Fund in December 2025. The HLF is for donors focused on improving lives that want to maximise their impact for mininum fuss. 90% is allocated among our Top and Promising Charities by our team, while 10% 'powers the engine' and funds the HLI's research and operations. The fund has raised $116k so far.
We published our explanation of  why some charities are 1,000 times more impactful than others . This was based on our in last year's chapter in World Happiness Report , where we did a first global comparison of charity cost-effectiveness.
We published  our charities update for Giving Season, with our reflections on 2025 at HLI. In short, we didn't find any better charities than in 2024. We still recommend charities working on mental health, malnutnitrion and lead exposure.
We've overhauled our website (there are still 'teething issues&#x27
