2026 marks our 40th anniversary, and we are celebrating by launching our biggest initiative to date – two physical [AI Nodes](https://foresight.org/grants/grants-ai-for-science-safety/) in San Francisco and Berlin! The nodes will provide grant funding, local compute, project support, and office space for ambitious teams advancing decentralized, AI-powered science and safety.

We support work in the following areas:

- AI for Security
- Private AI
- Decentralized & Cooperative AI
- AI for Science & Epistemics
- AI for Neuro, Brain-Computer Interfaces & Whole Brain Emulation
- AI for Longevity Biotechnology
- AI for Molecular Nanotechnology

### Whole Brain Emulation Endowment

While speculative, it is hard to overstate the potential of whole brain emulation (WBE). It could enable better treatments for neurological disorders, digital longevity, space exploration, and decrease risks from AGI/ASI. Given its potential, the field gets too little funding. As one of few organizations actively supporting WBE R&D, and with our network of leading scientists built up from years of Fellows, grantees and workshops in the domain, we are in a unique position to advance the field.

We are fundraising for an endowment to support:

- **Fast grants** that unblock promising WBE research and accelerate experimentation
- A $20M **Grand Prize** for achieving the first complete emulation of a human brain
