### **Funding opportunity:** Exposure of Human Aerosols to far-UVC Light for pathogen Elimination (EXHALE)

### **Anticipated individual awards:**

We expect to fund multiple teams. Up to $1,000,000 is available. However, if you have an idea that costs significantly more, we recommend you reach out to the Blueprint team to start a conversation prior to submitting to EXHALE. We are especially interested in proposals that achieve the program goals keeping cost reasonableness in mind. Most strong proposals will:

- Be completed within 12 months, ideally faster
- Include a clear plan, reasonable cost, and fast execution

### **Important dates:**

- Posting date: June 18, 2025
- Abstract deadline: July 21, 2025

### **Concise description of the funding opportunity:**

Primary purpose: Quantify how much far-UVC is needed to inactivate viral pathogens inside real, human-generated respiratory aerosols.

Out of scope: Studies using other UV wavelengths such as 254-nm UVC, computational models of far-UVC inactivation, inactivation studies in liquid or on surfaces.

Milestone-based contracts

We will pay a one-time bonus of $200 to anyone who introduces us to a research team that meets both of the following criteria:

1. The team is selected for an award from this RFP.

    A finalist is a team we select for a grant or contract for the EXHALE RFP.
2. The team would not have applied to this RFP without your tip.

That is, either (a) we were not already tracking this team or (b) the team would not have heard about the RFP. A warm introduction is appreciated but not required.

The bonus is paid after awardees are selected and contracts signed by both parties. Payments can be made via ACH transfer, PayPal, or charity donation- your choice.
