## The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS)

CFIUS is an interagency committee authorized to review certain transactions involving foreign investment in the United States and certain real estate transactions by foreign persons, in order to determine the effect of such transactions on the national security of the United States.

CFIUS operates pursuant to section 721 of the Defense Production Act of 1950, as amended (section 721), and as implemented by Executive Order 11858, as amended, and the regulations at chapter VIII of title 31 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

### Request for INFORMATION ON CFIUS KNOWN INVESTOR PROGRAM and Streamlining the Foreign Investment Review Process

On February 6, 2026, the Department of the Treasury issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking public input on the Known Investor Program and how CFIUS may streamline aspects of its foreign investment review process, while maintaining its rigorous analysis that identifies and addresses national security risk that can accompany foreign investment. The RFI provides stakeholders with the opportunity to share feedback and inform the development of the Known Investor Program as well as with respect to additional areas where CFIUS may increase efficiencies and enhance its processes.
