Dr Vega will serve an initial two-year term, and will also sit on the Board's Audit and Risk Committee. Dr Vega is a Medical Doctor and Pediatrician from the University of Chile, as well as a Doctor of Public Health from the University of Illinois, Chicago. She has more than 20 years of experience in managerial positions at national and international levels. In Chile, Dr Vega has served as Undersecretary of Health, Director of the National Health Insurance Agency and as Minister of Social Development and Family. Internationally, she has served as Director of the Department of Poverty, Equity and Determinants of Health at WHO, and as Global Health Director at The Rockefeller Foundation.
