[Human Health and Wellbeing] Open Philanthropy recommended a grant of $4,563,250 to the University of Connecticut Health Center to support work by Kelly Hawley and Melissa Caimano on the development of a vaccine for syphilis. Hawley and Caimano are participating in a collaborative project with David Baker, Neil King, and Lorenzo Giacani at the University of Washington, as well as Anastassia Vorobieva at the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology. (See "Related Items", below.) This falls within our focus area of scientific research, specifically within our interest in advancing human health and wellbeing.
