[Criminal Justice Reform] Grant investigator: Chloe Cockburn This page was reviewed but not written by the grant investigator. TJC staff also reviewed this page prior to publication. The Open Philanthropy Project recommended three grants totaling $7,800,000 over two years to The Justice Collaborative (TJC), via the Tides Foundation and Tides Advocacy, for general support. TJC, a research and strategic communications collaborative fighting for a smaller, more humane criminal justice system, is led by Rob Smith. We helped launch an earlier iteration of this organization in April 2016. This follows our March 2018 support and falls within our focus area of criminal justice reform.
