Center for Effective Global Action at UC Berkeley — Deworming Study Planning Gift
Needs attention[Global Health & Development] The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a GiveWell Incubation Grant of $18,000 to the Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA) at the University of California, Berkeley to investigate the feasibility of conducting a high-quality follow-up study on a deworming evaluation conducted in Tanzania in the mid-1990s. GiveWell Incubation Grants are recommended by GiveWell staff, and support the development of potential future top charities. The project will be led by Professor Edward Miguel and the funds are intended to cover the costs of a summer research assistant to support the investigation, including travel to Tanzania. CEGA has received two related GiveWell Incubation Grants, in April 2017 and July 2017. See GiveWell's page on this gift for more details.
