Debt Collective — Criminal Justice Reform Work
Verified[Criminal Justice Reform] Grant investigator: Chloe Cockburn This page was reviewed but not written by the grant investigator. The Debt Collective staff also reviewed this page prior to publication. Open Philanthropy recommended a grant of $75,000 to the Debt Collective, via the Sustainable Markets Foundation, to support its work on criminal justice reform. The Debt Collective seeks to end mass indebtedness by empowering people to dispute debts and advocate for debt policy reform. This funding will build the Debt Collective’s capacity to support people with criminal justice debts, lead campaigns to negotiate the retirement of those debts, and conduct research on other potential debt-related interventions into the criminal justice space. This falls within our focus area of criminal justice reform.
