The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a grant of $94,720 to Crate Free USA to support campaigning against the use of gestation crates for pigs. There are approximately 6 million sows in the United States, at least three-quarters of which are routinely confined in gestation crates. 1 This falls within our focus area of farm animal welfare.
