National Academy of Sciences — Gametogenesis Workshop

[Transformative Basic Science] Open Philanthropy recommended a grant of $225,000 to the National Academy of Sciences to support a workshop on in-vitro gametogenesis. Scientists are currently developing new methods to produce human gametes in vitro that could significantly affect reproductive medicine; this workshop will explore their scientific, ethical, and regulatory implications. This falls within our focus area of scientific research, specifically within our interest in advancing transformative basic science.
