Open Philanthropy recommended a grant of $200,000 to A New Way of Life (ANWOL) to support its work registering formerly incarcerated voters and educating Los Angeles communities about criminal justice reform issues. ANWOL, founded by formerly incarcerated leader Susan Burton, organizes and mobilizes formerly incarcerated people as advocates for social change and personal transformation. This falls within our focus area of criminal justice reform.
