Tarbell Center for AI Journalism — General Support

[Navigating Transformative AI] Open Philanthropy recommended a grant of $816,000 to the Tarbell Center for AI Journalism for general support. Tarbell supports journalism about artificial intelligence, with the aim of helping society navigate the emergence of increasingly advanced AI systems. This follows our September 2023 support for the Tarbell Fellowship (the project which later became Tarbell), and falls within our focus area of potential risks from advanced artificial intelligence.
