Open Philanthropy recommended a grant of €1,000,000 ($1,215,000 at the time of conversion) over three years to Wakker Dier to support farm animal welfare litigation in the Netherlands, based on violations of European Union directives transposed into Dutch law. Our farm animal welfare team believes that successful litigation could encourage large-scale reforms to and enforcement of key European Union farm animal welfare policies. This falls within our focus area of farm animal welfare.
