Albert Schweitzer Foundation — General Support
Verified[Broiler Chicken Welfare] Grant investigator: Lewis Bollard This page was reviewed but not written by the grant investigator. Albert Schweitzer Foundation staff also reviewed this page prior to publication. The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a grant of $1,000,000 over two years to the Albert Schweitzer Foundation for general support of its farm animal welfare activities in Germany. The funding will allow the Albert Schweitzer Foundation to significantly expand their corporate outreach on broiler chicken welfare, increase their fundraising capacity, and hire a law firm to pursue litigation related to turkey and pig welfare. This is the third grant we have recommended to the Albert Schweitzer Foundation. Our Program Officer for Farm Animal Welfare, Lewis Bollard, is excited to increase our support due to the organization's track record securing cage-free pledges from major German retailers; his confidence in its leadership team; and the organization's strategic alignment with our goal to build a stronger farm animal welfare movement in Europe. This grant falls within our focus area of farm animal welfare.
