Legal nonprofit founded in 2017 that uses the courts to challenge government actions that undermine democratic principles. Led by Skye L. Perryman (President and CEO). Launched an appellate litigation practice in August 2025 with approximately 12 lawyers. Filed FOIA lawsuits against HUD and State Department seeking records about Trump administration use of generative AI to rewrite rules, monitor employees, and target visa holders (March 2025). Separate FOIA lawsuit against OPM, GSA, HUD, and OMB compelling disclosure of AI use in deregulation agenda. Tracks specific concerns: AI used to flag visa holders based on social media posts, identify federal workers for termination, and propose mass regulatory repeals. Primary intervention types: litigation (FOIA, administrative law challenges).
