GovernmentIndian AI safety institute announced January 2025, formally launched February 2026 at India AI Impact Summit. Hub-and-spoke model under IndiaAI Mission, partnering with IITs and private sector. Initial budget: Rs 20 crore from IndiaAI Mission Safe and Trusted Pillar. Dedicated mechanism for ethical, safe, and responsible deployment of AI systems. India also hosted the AI Impact Summit (Feb 2026) with 92 countries endorsing the New Delhi Declaration and over USD 200 billion in AI investment commitments announced.
